Massey Energy CEO Discusses U.S. Energy Requirements

Don Blankenship, chairman and chief executive officer of Massey Energy Company gave a speech at National Press Club luncheon today to make the case for increasing the surface mining of coal in order to meet national energy requirements.
Blankenship’s company owns the Upper Big Branch coal mine in West Virginia, the site of a deadly explosion this past April that killed 29 workers. Massey Energy is the fourth largest coal company in the U.S.
