JFK: ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

John Fitzgerald Kennedy took office on January 20, 1961, after one of the closest elections in history against Richard Nixon. During his short time in office, Kennedy worked with the Civil Rights Movement to end racial descrimination; he lead the United States in the space race, and created the Peace Corps. JFK was assasinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas on November 22, 1963 while on a political trip.

During May, American Political Archive presented some of the interviews recorded by Gerald Strober and Deborah Hart Strober for their book, "The Kennedy Presidency: An Oral History of the Era" (Potomac Books). The authors interviewed more than 120 people who participated in the administration of President John F. Kennedy or were key players in the events of the day.
