In Part 1 of this 1979 oral history interview from the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, Mrs. Johnson remembers the early relationship between the Johnsons and John and Jacqueline Kennedy----the 1956 and 1960 campaigns and conventions---and the 1960 inauguration of President Kennedy and Vice President Johnson. In Part 2, you'll hear Mrs. Johnson look back at LBJ's role as vice president---his uneasy relationship with Robert Kennedy---and the trip to Dallas that ended with the assassination of President Kennedy. Joining the programs is Sheldon Stern, who was the JFK Library’s historian at the time and conducted the interview, to talk to us about that experience.
