ONLINE TOWN HALL MEETINGS (CHATS)
These LIVE online discussions provide community members with the opportunity to discuss issues with C-SPAN's featured guests.

BEFORE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
You must join the C-SPAN Community before you can participate in the Town Hall Meeting (Chats). You may want to join the online town hall meeting approximately 15 minutes before the discussion.

LET'S BEGIN
Step One: To access a C-SPAN chat, first enter your User Name and Password in the log in box and click on the chat link from the list of Discusion Central Activities. When you log in, you will be taken to a page where chat software will download.

Step Two: To submit a message, click on the "Ask Question" button located on the chat display. Type your question in the space provided and click "ok". Your question will be forwarded to the C-SPAN Discussion Manager.

Step Three: The C-SPAN Discussion Manager will review the questions and present them during the meeting. You can view community member questions and the guest's responses in the chat display. Transcripts of the chat will be made available online

DISCUSSION FORUMS
C-SPAN provides a variety of bulletin boards for community members to voice their opinions, post questions and share information.

You must join the C-SPAN Community before you can participate in forums. You can also preview the forums to learn about the various topics.

LET'S BEGIN
Step One: To access a Forum, first visit the community page and click on LOG ON TO DISCUSSION CENTRAL link under the Member Toolkit Heading. You will be taken to the "Community Log in Box." Enter your e-mail address and password.

Step Two: Once you log in, you can choose from a list of Discussion Forum topics by clicking on the discussion folder link. After you have chosen a discussion folder, click on the title of a forum which you would like to discuss.

Step Three: To post a message, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "recent" button. You can then type your message in the box provided. Click on the "Post My Message" button. You have 30 minutes to delete or edit your message.To respond to a message, please indicate the community member who you are responding to in your message.

Step Four:
To navigate the Forum area and review member postings, use the following buttons "To Top" (beginning of postings list), "Previous" (previous page of posting), "More" (next page of posting) and "Recent" (last page of posting list).
