CDC Director Testifies on COVID-19 Response
2 hours, 27 minutes"The CDC is a critical national security asset," said Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Mandy Cohen during her testimony on the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic and oversight of the agency before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. She stressed the importance of vaccinations during the fall and winter respiratory virus season, and said, "COVID is still the primary cause of new respiratory hospitalizations and deaths." Other topics were discussed, including the need for more funding and resources, transparency, public trust, and lessons learned from the pandemic.
