Financial Regulators Testify at Senate Oversight Hearing

He testified that the FDIC was already implementing the report's recommendations to improve its culture, saying, "We have to cut the good old boys network" that enabled abusive treatment of employees. Senators grilled Chair Gruenberg on these issues, and several Republican members called on him to resign. Federal Reserve Vice Chair Michael Barr and acting Comptroller of the Currency Michael Hsu also testified, saying the overall banking system was sound and resilient.

President Biden Remarks on Jobs & the Economy
20 minutes"I am determined that the future of electric vehicles will be made in America by union workers period" President Biden said as he announced a series of tariffs on Chinese products. The president announced a 25 percent tariff on Chinese steel and aluminum and a 100 percent tariff on electric vehicles made in China. The tariffs are the latest attempt by the administration to address "fair competition" between the U.S. and China. Century Aluminum President and CEO Jesse Gary and United Steelworkers International Vice President at Large Roxanne Brown joined the president for the announcement. They both stressed the importance of union jobs and benefits for workers. The president's remarks were held in the Rose Garden at the White House.
