Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao gave her first testimony before Congress on the Trump administration's plan to address the nation's infrastructure challenges. She said the $1 trillion proposal will include $200 billion in federal funding and private sector investment and will address areas including safety, modifications for smart technology, the streamlining of permit approvals and the needs of rural communities. She spoke before a hearing of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee chaired by John Barrasso (R) of Wyoming.
