The casket of the late Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and made its way to the Capitol. The motorcade made stops at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Black Lives Matter Plaza and the Supreme Court before arriving at the Capitol building.
Congressional lawmakers attended a memorial service for Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) at the U.S. Capitol. Following the service, the casket moved outside to the East Front stairs to lie-in-state. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reflected on the life and legacy of the civil rights leader. The voice of the congressman discussing his life and involvement in the civil rights movement was also played. Family, friends, and members of Congress paid their respects after the service concluded.
