Transportation Official Testifies on Highway Infrastructure Projects

His testimony came days after a truck caught on fire and caused a section of Interstate 95 to collapse in Philadelphia. He said the FHWA was working with other governmental agencies on emergency relief and offered support to state officials to reopen the section as quickly as possible. Moreover, senators inquired about electric vehicles, including safety and the progress of rolling out charging stations.

House Republicans on Jan. 6 Investigations & Prosecutions

Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and other House Republicans heard from witnesses about investigations and prosecutions related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Witnesses included persons convicted of participating in the attack, as well as their family members. This event occurred on the same day former President Trump was arraigned for charges of mishandling classified documents and obstruction of justice. Rep. Taylor Greene referenced this case, saying Mr. Trump and January 6 defendants were victims of a "weaponized government." In May of 2023, she announced plans to introduce articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves for his prosecution of participants in the attack.
