The two leaders also took questions from reporters, including on a soldier who reportedly crossed into North Korea, and on Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), who continued to hold Defense Department nominations pending before the Senate because of the Pentagon's policy guaranteeing travel for women servicemembers who need to access abortion care in states away from their home bases.

Campaign 2024: No Labels Holds Common Sense Agenda Launch in New Hampshire

Jon Huntsman (R) were the featured speakers at an event launching the "Common Sense" policy agenda booklet by No Labels, which billed itself as a centrist political organization. The pair were introduced by No Labels founding chair Joe Lieberman and other organization leaders, and were interviewed by Kevin Cirilli, a journalist with Scripps News. They talked about why they were advocating a centrist political approach, and about No Labels' push for that approach on the 2024 presidential field. Senator Manchin did not rule out a potential independent run for president himself, and No Labels officials said they were considering running a presidential slate in 2024. After taking questions from some of those in attendance at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, Senator Manchin and Mr. Huntsman were interviewed by a number of local and national journalists.

Hearing on Russian Money Laundering in Swiss Banks

One of the witnesses was financier Bill Browder, who did business in Russia before being barred from the country in 2005 for taking on corruption in Russian state-owned companies. Amid U.S. sanctions in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Mr. Browder said, "the Swiss government wants to be seen to be doing something, but, when it comes to reality...there's such a lot of money to be made off of dirty Russian money in Switzerland." Also, he called for the Treasury and State departments to sanction specific Swiss officials responsible for unfreezing Russian money in relation to the murder of Sergei Magnitsky. The 2012 Magnitsky Act is named after him, who was a Russian tax adviser believed to have been murdered by Russian officials for exposing corruption.

Also, when asked by The Washington Post's Heather Long if The American Rescue Plan--the administration's economic stimulus initiative--contributed to inflation, Mr. Bernstein argued it did not, saying it set the stage for a strong economy and inflation was caused by high demand and constrained supply.
