Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel of the University of Pennsylvania delivered a keynote address on the future of health care and discussed practices highlighted in his latest book, "Prescription for the Future," that would make the U.S. health care system more successful and affordable. His remarks were part of a health care symposium hosted by Pepperdine University's school of Business and Management.
Five scientists from NASA and the space agency's research partners announced the discovery of seven Earth-like exoplanets during a news conference at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The discovery was considered by the scientists to be of particular interest because it was the largest group of exoplanets found to date with life-sustaining characteristics. After presenting an overview of their findings on the so-called TRAPPIST-1 system, the scientists answered more than a dozen questions from reporters and the public via telephone and social media.

The Washington Institute (TWI) held a panel discussion on the Turkish referendum vote that gave the President Recep Tayyip Erdoan expanded executive powers, and offered their predictions for Turkey's future. The panelists included Soner Cagaptay, who was promoting his latest book "The New Sultan: Erdoan and the Crisis of Modern Turkey." Much of the discussion focused on concerns about the external relations Turkey would face under President Erdoan's expanded powers, particularly in regards to Syria's ongoing civil conflict.
