Wife of Husband Detained by Taliban Testifies on Afghanistan Post U.S. Withdrawal
15 minutesAnna Corbett, the wife of Ryan Corbett who is detained by the Taliban, testified and pleaded for the U.S. to secure his release before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Mrs. Corbett told lawmakers her husband's health is deteriorating and he's been having seizures and fainting spells. Ryan Corbett, an American aid worker, was taken by the Taliban in the summer of 2022. The committee convened this public hearing to examine the state of and conditions in Afghanistan following the U.S. withdrawal in August 2021.

U.S. House of Representatives: Rep. Chip Roy R-TX Criticizes House GOP Leadership
56 minutesRep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) was critical of his own party during a speech on the House floor. The Texas Republican challenged his GOP colleagues to "name one meaningful, significant thing" the House Republican majority has done this year. His remarks came after the House avoided a government shutdown. However on Wednesday 19 House Republicans blocked consideration of a GOP bill to fund the Justice Department for most of next year - mostly because of objections from members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, which Congressman Roy is a member of. In addition to Wednesday's vote House GOP leaders shutdown plans to move forward on two funding bills last week because of internal GOP divisions.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib & Rabbis Call for Ceasefire in Israel-Hamas War
1 hour, 25 minutesA group of progressive U.S. representatives led by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and several rabbis called for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas War, outside the Capitol. Rep. Tlaib had recently been censured by the House on November 7 after she shared a video on social media that called for Palestinian freedom "from the river to the sea." Critics said the slogan called for the abolition of Israel as a Jewish state, but Ms. Tlaib denied this, saying it instead advocated for "peaceful coexistence." The resolution advanced 234-188, with the support of 212 Republicans and 22 Democrats; four Republicans and 184 Democrats voted against it.

Campaign 2024: Vivek Ramaswamy Campaigns in Hillsborough, NH

James Freed is a city manager for Port Huron, Michigan. He had a private Facebook account for years before he changed it to a public page. After he became city manager, he updated his "About" section to include his new title. He also added other city information including an email address and the city hall's location. On this page he posted personal and professional content. During the pandemic, Mr. Freed posted COVID-19 city policies. Kevin Lindke posted critical comments on the policies. Mr. Freed deleted these critical posts and later blocked him. Mr. Lindke filed a lawsuit alleging his First Amendment rights were violated. A district court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled against him, so he appealed to the nation's highest court. The justices have through June 2024 to issue a ruling.

U.S. Senate: Sen. Ossoff on Israel-Hamas War

FDIC Chair, Federal Reserve Vice Chair & Others Testify on Oversight of Financial Regulators
