The director said 13 to 25 named storms are expected this hurricane season with up to 13 of those expected storms categorized as hurricanes. Director Brennan, along with Deputy FEMA Administrator Erik Hooks and Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL)--who previously served as director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management (2019-21), spoke on the need for preparedness and warned of the dangers posed by storm surges.

At the time of this event, the Smithsonian identified more than 2,100 cases of potential damage and destruction to Ukraine's cultural sites because of Russia's invasion.
