Agriculture Secretary Testifies Before House Agriculture Committee

Members from rural districts focused their questions to Secretary Perdue on parochial issues affecting farmers and others in their districts, including a global cotton glut, an outbreak of Liberibacter bacteria on Florida's orange crop, and a federal regulatory dispute affecting breeders of the Tennessee Walking Horse. Some Democrats from urban districts also pressed Secretary Perdue to resist President Trump's budgetary calls for cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP. There were audio difficulties for a small portion of this hearing.
