Mr. Sherwin details the development of the atomic bomb, beginning with the discovery of fission in 1938 through the bombing of the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Director of Restoration Gardiner Hallock tours portions of the home's South Wing currently undergoing archeological research and restoration, including a room where Sally Hemmings may have worked and lived. Finally, go inside the domed home built and designed by Jefferson. Tour guide Steve Light explains how this house reflects both our nation's third President, but also the enslaved people that helped to build and run it.

George Washington Birthplace Controversy

He discusses the archaeological record at the riverfront land on Virginia's Northern Neck, and the speculation that the National Park Service site is not the birthplace at all. Mr. Levy argues that the 300th anniversary of Washington's birth in 2032 imposes a sense of urgency to determine exactly where he was born.
