Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) outlined his plan for reopening businesses and retail stores in the state beginning May 1. He announced at a coronavirus briefing in Columbus that health procedures that do not require an overnight stay can resume May 1 and businesses will begin opening on May 4, starting with manufacturing and construction jobs, and then layering in general offices and retail businesses. Gov. DeWine said a decision on reopening salons, gyms and restaurants would be announced later. When asked why he didn't open all businesses at the same time, the governor told reporters that he didn't want to be reckless with his decision and it would be irresponsible to open up everything all together without seeing results from the first phase.
