Committee members asked the witnesses about the U.S. response to the pandemic and what the national strategy was moving forward. Witnesses talked about why the U.S. was experiencing more new infections than European and Asian countries and how mitigation measures and testing played a role in the discrepancies between the U.S. and most other developed nations. This is the first portion of the hearing, before the committee took a brief recess.
