2024 Republican presidential candidate Gov. Doug Burgum (ND) toured a machine shop in Gilford, New Hampshire, owned by the vice chair of the Belknap County Republican Committee. The senior director and deputy director of the Atlantic Council's Freedom and Prosperity Center sat down with Anna Gawel, managing director of Devex, to discuss several of the findings of the 2023 Freedom and Prosperity Indexes. They touched on the relationship between freedom and prosperity, saying the freer a nation is, the more prosperous it will be. In their findings, they determined that though North America and Europe are the freest regions in the world, global prosperity has experienced a decline due in large part to the COVID-19 pandemic. They also addressed China and Russia, the growth in Sub-Saharan Africa, and women's economic freedom around the world.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg held a news conference ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania. He talked and answered questions from reporters about the ongoing negotiations between Sweden, Turkey, and NATO leaders over Sweden's accession to the military alliance. Mr. Stoltenberg said the conversations were continuing, and he and other NATO leaders were still planning for Sweden's addition to the alliance. He also answered questions on the creation of the NATO-Ukraine defense council, which he said would help formalize NATO's support for Ukraine in its war against Russia. He also detailed an estimated 8.5 percent boost in spending by European members of the alliance and Canada, which he said would bolster ongoing support for Ukraine.

The American Enterprise Institute hosted a panel on the Supreme Court's upcoming decisions on the Biden administration's student loan debt relief program. The Court heard oral arguments about the matter in February 2023, which were Biden v. Nebraska and Department of Education v. Brown. In the respective cases, six states and two student loan borrowers challenged President Biden's program and its legality. The panel was in agreement that the conservative-majority Court would likely strike down the policy.
