After the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, it was often used by Lenin to give speeches at so-called party congresses. During World War II, the Metropol became a home and office for almost all foreign journalists allowed to work in the U.S.S.R. British journalist Alan Philps, our guest this week, has written a book about those days titled "The Red Hotel: Moscow 1941, the Metropol Hotel, and the Untold Story of Stalin's Propaganda War."

Pres. Biden in Arizona Announces New Grand Canyon Monument
18 minutesPresident Biden signed a proclamation on-site in Coconino County, Arizona to designate nearly 1 million acres of land as Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni -- Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. The designation is intended to conserve public lands, honor Native Americans, protect the area from potential uranium mining, and support local economies. During remarks before the signing, the president promoted his administration's climate and conservation agenda, saying, "Last year, I signed the largest climate bill in the history not only of the United States, but literally in the history of the world," referring to the Inflation Reduction Act. This is the fifth national monument President Biden has established during his tenure.

White House Holds Back-to-School Cyber Safety Summit
