Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Don Scott (D) gave the keynote address at the National Pan-Hellenic Council's (NPHC) Black Male Voter Summit in Washington, DC. Del. Scott spoke about becoming the Virginia House's first black speaker. He also talked about the importance of leadership, diversity and why voting matters.
State and local election officials, including secretaries of state Jocelyn Benson (D-MI) and Wes Allen (R-AL), testified before the Senate Rules Committee on election preparation, administration, and security, with a focus on the 2024 election cycle. Several topics were addressed, including election worker protections, cybersecurity, challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI), and protecting against misinformation and disinformation. Also addressed during the hearing were voter mobilization efforts, voting rights, and concerns posed by foreign adversaries to interfere in the upcoming U.S. elections.

Several topics were addressed, including the importance of continued support for Ukraine, the Israel-Hamas war, competition with China, and security at the Southern Border, including illegal fentanyl entering into the U.S. They also touched on the threat posed by artificial intelligence (AI), election security, and combatting misinformation and disinformation.
Former Special Counsel Robert Hur defended his report and decision to reference President Biden's mental state in it during a more than four-hour long hearing before the House Judiciary Committee. The attorney general appointed Mr. Hur in January 2023 to investigate the president's handling of classified documents after leaving office as vice president during the Obama administration. Ultimately, no charges were filed against President Biden. Former President Donald Trump was also investigated for his handling of classified documents after leaving office. The special counsel in this case did file charges though. Many Republicans on the committee pointed to this, with many calling it unfair and unjust. Democrats argued the two situations are different and went on to defend President Biden's handling and his mental acuity.
