British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak testified on domestic and foreign policies before the House of Commons Liaison Committee in London. He clashed with Human Rights Committee Chair Joanna Cherry about Afghan refugee policy, and he addressed concerns about China and national security as well as the Israel-Hamas ceasefire resolution passed by the United Nations. Moreover, Mr. Sunak was asked about former Prime Minister Liz Truss' recent comments that she was undermined by the "deep state," but he declined to answer. The Liaison Committee is comprised of all chairs from the House of Commons' select committees.
In 2012 Sen. Joe Lieberman I-CT) gave his farewell address, following a 24-year Senate career. The Connecticut Senator became the first Jewish American to be nominated on a major party's ticket in 2000, after Al Gore chose him as his running mate. During Sen. Lieberman's Senate re-election bid in 2006, he lost the Democratic primary election but won re-election in the general election as a third-party candidate. More recently he was part of the bipartisan No Labels organization. According to his family he died after a recent fall. Joe Lieberman was 82.

Iranian human rights activist and journalist Vahid Beheshti delivered a speech on Capitol Hill, warning about the Iranian government's threat to Western democracies. He said the main goal of the regime is to turn the world into an Islamic theocracy and is attempting this by employing tactics such as spreading propaganda, funding proxy wars and terrorism, and cyber attacks. However, he said the government is a "paper tiger" that the majority of Iranians do not support. Mr. Beheshti's remarks were sponsored by the Middle East Forum.
