He spoke about why he voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election results following the attack on the U.S. Capitol and why he still supports 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in light of Mr. Trump's alleged role in the attack. Moreover, he claimed that his removal as House speaker was motivated by personal animus from Rep. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a news conference after meeting at Mr. Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. They discussed illegal immigration and border security, with Speaker Johnson announcing that House Republicans would introduce legislation requiring proof of citizenship to vote. Moreover, Donald Trump took reporters' questions on several topics, including: supporting Mike Johnson amid Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) expressing interest in removing him as speaker, Ukraine aid, his thoughts on an abortion ban, and reports of Iran planning an attack on Israel. Mr. Trump also said that he would testify in his upcoming hush money trial taking place in New York City.
