This was the first presidential debate between a sitting president and a former president.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Republicans would file a lawsuit against Attorney General Merrick Garland over his refusal to hand over the audio of special counsel Robert Hur's interview with President Biden. Speaker Johnson also weighed in on the previous night's presidential debate between President Biden and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling Mr. Biden "feeble" and praising Mr. Trump's performance.
