The Violence Against Women Act was signed into law by President Clinton on September 13, 1994, and was reauthorized by President Biden on March 15, 2022.

Secretaries of state from Michigan, Florida, Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, and West Virginia testified before the House Administration Committee on preparations in their respective states for the 2024 elections. Topics included discussion about the merits of requiring photo ID to vote and the threats that election workers face. "These threats are a direct result of the spread of false information about the security and accuracy of our elections," said Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D). Secretaries of state serve as the chief officials of elections at the state level of government.

The secretary delivered brief remarks at the start of the daily briefing where he spoke on Russia's influence operations, a cyber unit embedded in RT's media network, and the use of Russian media to crowdfund in order to pay for military equipment to be used against Ukraine. Other topics addressed during the briefing included the Israeli-Gaza war and intervention boy adversaries, such as North Korea, in the U.S. Presidential election.

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams held a news conference amid being stuck on the International Space Station during Boeing's first-ever crewed mission. They arrived at the station over three months ago, and their mission was supposed to last only a little over a week, but technical issues caused them to remain in space. This news conference happened a week after their Boeing Starliner capsule returned to Earth without the astronauts, following NASA's determination that the capsule posed too much risk for them to return in it. A SpaceX capsule will start to bring them back to Earth in February 2025.
