On the day before this rally, a federal jury decided that Mr. Trump pay $83.3 million in damages to E. Jean Carroll for making defamatory comments about her. Several months before in May 2023, another federal jury found that Mr. Trump sexually abused and defamed Ms. Carroll and awarded her a combined $5 million in damages.
