Defense Secretary Austin Holds Press Briefing

"The President will not tolerate attacks on American troops, and neither will I," said Sec. Austin. He later said, "I don't think the adversaries have a one-and-done mindset. They have a lot of capability. I have a lot more."

Federal Reserve Chair Powell Holds News Conference
53 minutesFederal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell announced that the Fed was keeping its interest rate policy unchanged at present. He said the current rate of 5.25% to 5.5% was likely at its peak and that it would probably be lowered later this year if the economy continued to evolve as expected. Though he celebrated the overall state of the U.S. economy, Mr. Powell cautioned that the economic outlook remains uncertain as the Fed aims to lower inflation to a target rate of 2%.
