EPA Administrator Testifies on President's 2024 Budget

Topics included addressing the problem of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances, better known as PFAS, which have been dubbed as "forever chemicals" because they do not break down in the environment. The EPA's proposed budget is 12.1 billion for fiscal year 2024 (October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024), and Administrator Regan said the budget's key priorities are: protecting air quality, upgrading water infrastructure, combating the climate crisis, and rebuilding core functions at the EPA.

Susan Rice Speaks at Anti-Defamation League Leadership Summit

WTO Director-General Discusses Global Trade

She defended the benefits of global trade amid backlash against it by some critics in the U.S. and elsewhere. Ms. Okonjo-Iweala said that, despite negative rhetoric against multilateral trade, global trade numbers are at an all-time high. She also said that trade is often "unfairly blamed" for job losses, and attributed the actual reason to technological change. Moreover, she said many people do not understand the purpose of the WTO, which is, "to enhance living standards, help create employment, and support sustainable development."
