DC Mayor Testifies on Rising Crime in City

Police Chief Robert Contee and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves also appeared before lawmakers for questions. A frequent topic that came up was how unlike other cities most crimes in DC fall under federal jurisdiction and prosecution. The mayor along with the other witnesses and lawmakers also discussed DC statehood. After the hearing Mayor Bowser and Chief Contee spoke to local reporters about the hearing.
