At a confirmation hearing, Christy Goldsmith Romero, President Biden's nominee to be chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), said she will address toxic workplace culture described in an independent report as "hostile," "misogynistic," and "patriarchal." The FDIC board ordered the review after a Wall Street Journal investigation uncovered more than 500 employee complaints alleging workplace misconduct. Investigators also investigated FDIC Chair Martin Gruenberg's interactions with employees and found them to be "deeply unsettling."
