The Senate Armed Services Committee held a confirmation hearing for Lt. Gen. Daniel Hokanson to become chief of the National Guard Bureau and Army Gen. Gustave Perna to lead Operation Warp Speed in its development of a COVID-19 vaccine. Gen. Perna told lawmakers it is "likely" the U.S. will have a vaccine by the end of the year. Senators questioned the nominees on a number of topics including the use of the National Guard and the readiness of the operation to deploy the vaccine across the country.
