After being introduced by Rep. Feenstra, Gov. DeSantis told the crowd of about 700 attendees about what he saw as his top successes as Florida governor, and about how he wants to take his approach of low taxes and increased support for socially conservative causes to national level. Gov. DeSantis then met and took pictures with many of those in attendance, as did his wife, Casey. Afterward, he participated in a photo op with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R). When asked by a reporter if had any official announcement for a presidential campaign, Gov. DeSantis responded, "Stay tuned."

Mr. Clements said that the banks engaged in high-risk practices, such as rapid growth and heavy reliance on uninsured deposits, which contributed to the failures. He further reported that regulators--the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Federal Reserve--were able to identify issues, but did not escalate supervisory actions in time to mitigate the risks. Republicans focused on the latter issue, blaming regulators for the failures. Democrats instead drew more attention to the bank executives' mismanagement and Trump-era deregulations. The hearing took place before a House Financial Services subcommittee.
