Witnesses were critical of the effectiveness and trustworthiness of the U.S. Center for SafeSport, a nonprofit tasked under federal law to address sexual abuse of minors and athletes. One of the witnesses was Grace French, a survivor of convicted sexual abuser Larry Nassar, who called SafeSport a "damaging institution" for survivors. SafeSport CEO Ju'Riese Colon also testified before the independent, bipartisan commission, who said her institution was imperfect but working as intended.
