Former CIA, Pentagon and State Department officials testified on Houthi threats to U.S. interests during a public hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa & Central Asia. The witnesses also offered policy recommendations for lawmakers and the White House. During the more than hour-long hearing demonstrators also showed up to protest Israeli military strikes in Gaza and the U.S. stance on the war.

She also expressed the president's urging of Congress to act and discussed what President Biden is doing to reduce gun violence in America. National Security Communication Adviser John Kirby also updated reporters on an unspecified possible national security threat. Kirby says the so-called "national threat" involves an anti-satellite capability being developed by Russia and this is "not an active capability" by Russian forces. The White House says it does not foresee an immediate threat to national security.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) participated in a fireside chat hosted by the Detroit Economic Club. Secretary Yellen said the overall state of the U.S. economy was "very strong," citing a historic unemployment rate, strong economic growth and productivity, and a labor market that was "the envy of the world." She added that inflation was trending downward, despite minor fluctuations. Ms. Willis is leading Georgia's election interference case against former President Donald Trump and others. She's being accused of having a romantic relationship with one of the special prosecutors in the case, Nathan Wade. Attorneys for former President Trump and the other defendants are trying to get her removed from the case.
