FBI Director Testifies on Bureau's Oversight - Part 1
1 hour, 29 minutes"Given the steady drumbeat of calls for attacks by foreign terrorist organizations since October 7th, we're working around the clock to identify and disrupt potential attacks by those inspired by Hamas's horrific terrorist attacks in Israel," said FBI Director Christopher Wray as he discussed the elevated threat landscape in his opening testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee's hearing on oversight of the FBI. The director also stressed the urgency in reauthorizing Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), saying it is "key to our ability to detect a foreign terrorist organization overseas directing an operative here to carry out an attack in our own backyard." Other topics addressed included "sextortion" crimes committed against children, combating human trafficking, hate crimes and free speech, violence directed at women's reproductive care facilities, and credibility concerns.
