Ms. Biden, the wife of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, was introduced by a supporter and campaign organizer, and then spoke about Mr. Biden's campaign for president and the volunteers' roles in getting him elected. Afterward, she meet and took photos with many of the attendees, and then handed out chocolates.

She also said any effort by the Republican majority in the Senate to "dismiss" the articles of impeachment would amount to a "cover-up." The speaker also spoke about a resolution on the House floor to limit President Trump's use of force against Iran. The debate and vote occurred days after the president ordered an Iranian general killed and the regime responded with missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq.

He argued, and quoted Democratic lawmakers, saying if it's an urgent matter, she should not wait to send the articles to the Senate. The minority leader also took questions on tensions between the U.S. and Iran as well as a House resolution on limiting the president's use of force against the regime. Mr. McCarthy defended the administration's briefing of lawmakers the day before and told reporters the resolution on the floor is nonbinding and is not enforceable.
